IIRC, an M1 Garand and an M16A2 both weigh in right around 8lbs (not counting any tacticool geegaws).The M1 Garand is a fine weapon Dennis. It is heavy though. 10lbs maybe more, but extremely accurate. I had to qualify with the M1 when I went to Boot Camp. We had to drill and exercise with the weapon.
