I’d own a Yorkie, but I’m pretty sure they’re considered rodentsThat's a cool story. We had all different kinds of dogs, too, but usually a dozen of whatever someone fancied at the time. And that "no never uh-huh" dog for me is a Yorkie.

My lab mix generously produces a spare dog about every three months. I've often joked that I don't have dust bunnies...the hair coyotes ate them!I don't have a dog in this fight (ha!)...
But my first choice would be a Lab. Incredibly smart, loyal, and short-haired if you want an indoor dog.
Don't forget the shedding of long-haired dogs is daily... every day... year-in... year-out... for life (just thought I'd mention that ).
My two cents.

yep poodles, giant schnauzers, komondors, pulis, and portuguese water dogs off the top of my head, but then you're lookings at grooming costs and the other minor issues. Is there a large dog that doesn't shed?
Maybe a large size poodle?
