One of our homes has two layers of 26g R Panel! Be hard to get anything through it!

The previous owner was an early on user of metal and was fortunate to have a claim on cosmetic damage, wich is no longer an insurance option. He talked the installer to leave the existing R Panels in place, pull the screws and relay.

I understand the 'strength' aspect.
But I'd be concerned about moisture retention between the layers, rusting out both roofs.

...but I guess you bought it that way, so you'll cross that bridge when you get to it.
