I think it's important to remember who first moved the needle on the dial here.
It's the people who chose to erect that Monument even though they were advised, beforehand, that it violated the constitution.

We didn't have a 10C Monument from statehood until recently.
Everything after that is a reaction to the original illegal act of a few zealots.

You can bet it is the atheists behind it. They are just as set on have their way as the most religious fundamentalist I have ever seen.

It's not our way (atheists). It's the American way. Government has no place endorsing religion. It's a slippery slope if there ever was one. To the rational, non-biased mind on the issue, it's fairly simple to understand. Religion is a personal thing not a government thing.

And the other side defends that a visual display is not endorsing any religion and retorts by questioning how can a visual display that is not graphically obscene produce damages?

Life is a rerun as we repeat these dance steps every couple of years.

The fact that people are debating the issue and that it's news across the country is all the evidence needed to show that it's completely unnecessary. It's stupid for government to even attempt it... Unless they just want to stir the pot. Keep religion out of and off of government and we can focus on other things. This is such a waste of time and resources and if anything, Christians should be speaking up and addressing that.

Yeah … good debate is so overrated and unnecessary. Everyone should simply bow to the intolerances of others, hold hands and eat copious amounts of tomatoes.

We're "debating" something that is explicitly against Constitutional law... One side is trying to skirt the law and pretend it doesn't exist while the other side keeps pointing at the law. It's not really a debate.

The short answer: almost everywhere where they ought to appear if the intent of the art was to indicate a connection between the 10 Commandments and American law. There is nothing in the artistic embellishment of the Supreme Court building that would indicate that the artists had any special regard for the 10 Commandments.

Consider, for example, the North (front) entrance to the building. If there was any desire on the part of the artists to indicate a fundamental role for the 10 Commandments, this would be the place to do it, but the front of the building contains no references to Moses or to any other Biblical theme. Rather, one encounters two massive Roman-type sculptures representing "The Authority of Law" and "The Contemplation of Justice," a frieze depicting "Equal Justice Under Law," and a set of massive bronze doors that depict scenes from Greek, Roman, and Anglo-Saxon law. None of these are connected in any way to Biblical themes. Similarly, there are all sorts of artistic embellishments scattered throughout the main floor of the building, but none of them are obviously religious. Put simply, there is little in the Supreme Court Building that suggests any desire on the part of the artists to enshrine the 10 Commandments as the foundation of our law.

Finally, we note that not once are the actual words of the 10 Commandments reproduced in the Supreme Court building. One finds tablets, and sometimes these tablets have Roman numerals on them, but we never find the Commandments written out. If the intention of this art is to convey that the 10 Commandments are so important to our law, wouldn't it make sense for them to be reproduced in full at least once?

So what happened? Did hell freeze over? You and I are agreeing on issues now? Dog and cats living together are next? Anarchy??
