Freedom of religion and right to bear arms are equal. Without guns we cannot guarantee our freedom (of religion).

It's a double standard though for sure...radical Muslims are racking up a huge death toll yet our leaders are afraid to hurt their poor feelings by examining them too closely yet screw the feelings of law abiding Americans when it comes to gun rights

You said it. Our gov't is so concerned with how it is viewed by others that it won't take a chance of offending someone. However, it won't hesitate to put its thumb down on the citizens. Isn't political correctness awesome. I think we need to get back to "speak softly and carry a big stick" instead of speak to where the world can hear us and be sure to say what they want to hear.

Christianity in and of itself has never been violent. Christianity usurped by the government was violent. But if you go that far back, you will find Islam was violent back then as well and it hasn't 'grown out of it.'

Dunno how anyone could say that christianity isn't violent, referencing the old testament. There are plenty of examples throughout history of the violent and prejudicial nature of christian societies. Of course, when this is brought up to my christian friends, they simply deny that they were "true" christians. Which is the same BS copout that you hear from many muslims today. When push comes to shove, they are one in the same.

While it is debatable if the world would be a better place without religion, I think we can all agree that the world would be a better place without batshit crazy interpretations of religion.

IMHO, organized religion is the problem, and these profiteering preachers you see living in mansions will be first in the long line to hell.

Which is hilarious to me as Islam and Christianity are pretty much the same thing, yet either side will argue with you all day that they aren't. Though, with the megachurches, Christianity is getting a little closer to Scientology. Oy vey iz mir.

really? do go on
There are lots of religions that claim to adhere to the principles of Christianity - Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Morman, Lutheran, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Mennonite, Church of God, Church of Christ, Church of the Nazarene, Seventh Day Adventist, etc. There are even religious institutions that identify themselves as a "Christian Church" - but the definition of Christianity is not a religion because it's not dependent on the existence of any of those religions, churches, or other institutions. It's also been called a philosophy, or a culture, or a myth but is none of those either.

so judaism and islam also aren't religions since there are different sects and denominations?

Christianity is not a religion.
Mwahaha. Then neither is Islam with Sunni, Shia, Sufi, and other types of belief and worship.
Almost all "Christians" believe Jesus died as a sacrifice, believe in the Trinity, and that He will return.
All that changes are the details. The variety of denominations is just an evolution of Christianity.
