I just can't believe that. Most of those democrats have worked and are smart enough to understand that there is no real "free" in this world. Some may not understand but I can't believe it is half of the people in this country who vote.

I'm not much into "figurative" language...more an advocate of literal and explicit.

I get the idea of "free" in a figurative sense, but i can't believe that is the major factor in the democratic party. That's why I tried to give some literal examples of what I was thinking as factors.

The "free mentality" might encompass "free to me", "I don't care to think about it (cost)", "The government can borrow more money because it is a good investment in the future", ""The Wealthy will be taxed more", "The big corporations will be taxed more", and the purely childish: "free". There are probably more ways of expressing "free"

In contrast, adults understand that everything has a cost and often there are trade-offs.
