That was a kinda tough call between the two Colts. But the 1911 wins out in my mind. Just too widespread with absolutely everyone making copies. Even Sig!

Id rank these (just the ones youve listed here) in order with special consideration for their eras.

1. 5'' 1911 Government
2. Colt SAA
3. Glock 17
4. Beretta 92
5. S&W J-frame
6. S&W 629
7. Browning HP
8. H&K USP
9. Sig P226
10. Ruger Blackhawk

I would have also added the Kel-tec .380 since they created a paradigm shift in the mouse gun species.

Ruger Marks .22lr should also be in a "greatest" roster.

Tough call. Don't think I could pick a "greatest" much less a favorite. Have shot or own some of the selection ....

While not the P226, shown are my SIG P220 & Browning BDA, both in 45ACP.

I would have picked a 1911 4 inch..but there wasn't a choice..so I guess I'll go with the 5 inch....Though I am torn between that and the J frame. There is just something sexy about a J frame...
