You also don’t have to do the entire course or test in one sitting. As long as you take the test for the section you are on before exiting, it saves your progress. My youngest daughter took it when she was 10 while driving on vacation. Any time she was bored in the car, she would read and test on the next section.
One of our members here, Deer Slayer, teaches hunters ed class. He does a fantastic job, but I'm not sure when he puts them on.
Just do the on line course, he can have in done in a few evenings and it will behind him forever. He's going to learn 99% of his gun and hunting safety from you anyway if he hasn't already.
