Have him go online. make an account and take the course online. My daughter did that when she was 12 and said it was easy.
Then print out Hunter safety card.

You also don’t have to do the entire course or test in one sitting. As long as you take the test for the section you are on before exiting, it saves your progress. My youngest daughter took it when she was 10 while driving on vacation. Any time she was bored in the car, she would read and test on the next section.
