Go down to the DPS by the Capital. I did it a few years ago and it was around 25 bucks. Take your vintage plate with you. They’ll check the plate # to see if it’s assigned to anyone and give you a little sticker for your windshield allowing you to use a vintage plate.

I called a tag agency today and they said you send in a form with $250 and the year of the tag has to match the car. They said it isn't a sure thing and can be rejected without a refund. The person there didn't know anything about certain tag numbers being reserved for the tribes. I asked for a phone number for someone that may know more about this.

I'm not sure who or what you talked to, but unless something changed drastically since about a year ago, that person didn't know jack s&^t.

I have a regular tag on the rear, but I have the old tag on the front of my '63 Chevy PU. I left it unrestored to show the contrast of what my truck looks like compared to the old beat up license plate.
