so, it has been a back and forth thing all year with the atf talking about banning pistol braces, and i have decided to get the word out to all of us "non compliers"

when the day comes and they are illegal and you just - ya know, do the thing to keep you out of jail? remove your pistol brace to stay compliant, and your only option is to pay the 200$ for a tax stamp under new regulations? -

i have come up with a better idea and i am trying to get the word out.

so, if you have a pistol w/ a arm brace on it, most likely by the looks of it - it will be illegal w/ the brace attached and considered a Sbr unless you pay 200$ to change the classification. but what if you dont pay them the 200$ and just go back to it being a pistol?

this is what i am proposing -

all of us that have pistols with braces removing them to stay legal
- what i am not suggesting you do is just say f-it and brake the law,
- what i AM saying is do what it takes to make the gun legal again and instead of paying the 200$ to the atf why not just run it as a pistol for a little while, which would be defunding them by choosing to not pay the 200$ tax, and all of us band together and go thru the legal system to change the law?

these pistol brace proposals are not about making communitys safer or saving any bodys lives, this is about the atf going back and forth on their opinions and words trying to fund themself because they want that 200$ from the hundreds of thousands of people with pistol braces.

so im asking you now, instead of paying that 200$ to register your gun as a SBR, wouldnt you rather put your name down on a list you would be willing to pay 200$ (and hang onto that money until its obviously needed when we get something going) we gotta have enough pistol brace owners band together and willing to pay this same price for a class action lawsuit against the atf. hell im thinking we try to repeal the nfa act, but at a MINIMUM we are going to try and remove sbr's from the list of NFA items all together.

look, this is just an idea right now obviously pistol braces are still legal (for the time being) and i dont know how we would do this and i dont know who we need to get in contact with, but money talks. and i sure as hell know if we got enough people together and this was made very official and open - for the soul purpose of protecting our freedoms we could change the outcome of things. i know there is enough of us owners of pistols w/ braces that could put that 200$ to better use.

keep in mind this is just a thought and i want to spread the idea around. so if you have friends or know people with braces please mention this to them.

Aren't there groups, such as the Gun Owners of America, Second Amendment Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (among others) that already have the lawyers, the expertise, and the experience to take on the ATF and the DOJ in court?

This^^^. I suggest Brace owners send the $200 to one of the organizations already geared-up to take on the ATF.

Gun owners really need to wake up. The ATF isn't making bank on collecting the $200 for a stamp. Quite the contrary, it probably costs them 10-15 times that to do the "approval", they are a .gov agency afterall.

They just don't like the subjects owning guns and this isn't about protecting the public, it's 100% about control. The $200 is just a procedural thing to them, the money means nothing.

True--if they wanted to make money off the tax, they would have adjusted it for inflation.

The actual dollar amount is spelled out in the law.
They can’t get UBC through, what makes you think they could effectively move the posts on NFA?
As others have said, this is revenue generating marketing nothing else.

First they came for the bumpstock, and I did not speak out—because I have a 1911

Then they came for the pistol braces, and I did not speak out— because I have a 1911

Then they came for the large cap magazines, and I did not speak out—because i have a 1911

Then they came for my 1911—and there was no one left to speak for me but my 1911.

Braces were a skirt around the law. Every body knows this, but won’t acknowledge it.
Your fighting a battle that you can’t win.
Braces were designed to allow veterans without the ability to hold the gun with two hands to still shoot one. That's like saying handicapped parking spots are just for lazy people.

I watched a video today of Colion Noir and the creator of the original SB brace. They stated that with the point system that the ATF is rolling out you can still get to SBR status without a brace. And that simply removing the brace in some instances will not be sufficient. I think the ATF is going broader than we realize.
