I don’t know if I’ve ever posted picture of him before, but this is Nick. He’s actually my youngest son’s retired duck dog that has been left with us. I’m kind of ashamed that I don’t take more pictures of him, but he’s a geriatric Lab with “doggy dementia“. He’s almost blind and deaf which makes him kind of hard to deal with. I have to watch that he doesn’t wander off, because he gets lost easily. It’s been nice the last couple days, and I’ve taken him on the Ranger and down by the pond. I’m trying to make what time he has left enjoyable.
I know he enjoyed that.

This is one of the first pictures I took of my boxer Shelby about 9 years ago.
And this is one of the last pictures of her that I took.
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to take any more of her because we had to put her down tonight. The inoperable tumor that she had had gotten too out of control to keep letting her suffer with it. I miss her more than anything right now, but at least she's not going to be in any pain anymore.

I’m sorry for your loss. That breaks the heart.
Hunting dogs gonna hunt! Dachshunds are smart and vicious hunters! This little girl has caught and killed 3 squirrels, 2 jays and 1 possum! At least that’s what she’d tell you if she could talk. I happen to know the possum was just playing possum to get her to back off! Ya’ll have a great weekend!

@beardking I'm truly sorry for the loss of Shelby. It's always heartbreaking to lose a pup...
Thanks to all for the thoughts about Shelby. One of the worst things about having pets is that they live so much shorter lives than we do. I just take solace in the fact that I'm pretty sure that we have her a full and happy life all the way to the end.
