Gonna take The Wife and The Boy on a little getaway. 2-3 nights. Looking for a cabin in the woods, hopefully near a lake or river, something like that. Things to do during the day. I'm not so much on hiking (too fat! lol), but water stuff is nice - canoe a little, some fishing off a dock or boat rental would be cool. Nice comfy air-conditioned cabin with a deck and a grill, full kitchen, a hot tub would be nice. I'll probably bring my FireTV and my NAS or a bunch of BluRays for movies in the evenings.

I'm looking at a few over at Beaver Lake near Eureka Springs, there are a bunch of nice ones down at Broken Bow Lake, as well. That's probably in the range we're looking to travel, 3-4 hours from the Tulsa area at most. We'll probably be looking at like the 23rd-3rd as far as our window.

Open to ideas. I just want to get away. Want to be comfortable. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but I figure a coupla hundred a night for what we're looking at, which is equivalent to a nice hotel room in the city or something.

*ALSO - If anyone knows how to get ahold of @FamousAJ, I know he has a place on Grand Lake. I'm looking for a place to rent for about 8 men in August to do a men's getaway and "manhood induction" weekend/ceremony for my boy, he's turning 13. I'm not sure how many his house over there sleeps, but I thought I'd talk to him and see. He hasn't answered the phone number I have for him, maybe he's changed it. Open to other ideas for this getaway as well.

Big Cedar just south of Branson. It’s close enough if you want to go to Branson you can, but there are restaurants, the lake with paddle boats for sure - they may have canoes, movie rentals and other stuff. The cabins have a decent grill too (in addition to the kitchen) so you can do some decent cooking while there. Not as cheap as state park cabins, but way nicer.

Google might be your friend on this. Check several reviews on places if possible. :drunk2:

We have stayed at a cabin in the woods around Eureka Springs. Belongs to a friend of ours.
I'll have my wife call them in the AM and get some details. We enjoyed our stay there.
I'd also suggest Lilleys Landing in Branson. It's the best resort on Lake Taneycomo. We have stayed there for 30 years now, a week at a time. Cabins 200' from the water. Most with full kitchens and separate bedrooms, or a group room.
They have excellent trout fishing from their dock. Everything needed to fish including boat rentals is there on site.

It's on the yellow route around Branson so if you get horror stories about the traffic in Branson, disregard. You can take the alt routes and get from one end to the other in about 10 minutes or less.

Yes, I have been Googling, which is how I found the ones I've already looked into. Was just wondering about some personal recommendations from folks I know(ish).

Honestly I didn't think about Branson area... that is a good idea. It's about the same distance. I will most assuredly avoid Branson itself though. I've had very poor experiences there. Tanycomo and Table Rock are possibilities, though. Thanks!

Wow, both of those have some incredible places to rent! Definitely going to look into them, too.

We stay at Arbuckle a lot. There are lots of cabins, we always stay at Rocky Point. Full kitchens, satelite tv, unbelievable national park with lots of swimming holes and driving areas. Barely any cell reception, no web. Just about perfect.
