My son and I left June 1st for South Africa and came back the 20th.
Memories my son will have when I am dead and gone for sure.

Hunting prices are way down due to the world economy, It is about as cheap to hunt Africa and take several head of game as it is to trophy hunt here in the states for one animal.

My friends there threw me a nice birthday party with BBQ lamb on the menu.
I can't say enough about the hospitality of the South African people.
It's great to hunt with folks of a kindred spirit.

That is what you call a hunt....lol:yikes2: Looks like you guys had the time of your lives.

I dont think you got enough bird though:homer: Nice kills!!!

I only hope to make it to the bush one of these days.

We hit a cloudy, light rainy day bird hunting but got over 120 pigeons.
They say in March or April the sky is black with them.

From where I was shooting I could view 3 gold mines at one time!

We hunted right on ground they were digging diamonds right off the top layer of soil, those are for industrial use, not great quality.

Excellent brother! I have had a few days hunting back home in AZ when the sky was full of Dove but nothing like what you describe....lol

Crazy about the diamonds....did you get to bring any home....Would make a hell of a souvenir!!

Uncut diamonds are illegal to have, and I didn't get a chance to buy any legal ones, market price would be the same as here.
Friend of mine had a pickup for sale a couple guys wanted to trade a handful for it but he declined, they had to be hot.

Most likely they are hot....lol I am sure your buddy could have made out pretty good after getting them home and cut. But I am sure he would have had issues getting them back...so not worth the risk!

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your time out in Africa....I envy you.

Best to you and yours.

I started to not look at the pictures, as I knew it would lead to many more sleepless nights, dreaming of going on safari, but I forced myself. :D

Now I'm really Jelous. OMG that elephant was HUGE! I can see why my 30-06 may not be enough gun:D
