I recently wrote a letter to Federal Cartridge asking about the Wal-Mart ammo. Here is my letter and the response:

I'm trying to find the 9mm Federal ammo that is sold at Wal-Mart. It has a product number of WM5199. I can never find any at my local Wal-Mart and I'm very happy with the product. Can you tell me what product you have, sold elsewhere, that compares to the WM5199?

Ballistic wise the American eagle loads are going to be the closest load comparable to the champion loads. The American eagle has a copper jacketed bullet rather than copper plated jacket in the champion loads.

So, I guess it's true that you can only buy Federal Champion in 9mmm at Walmart. What a pain in the a**.

When you can buy as much as Walmart does, you can control lots of product sales.

Good to know the difference. Plated bullets are cheaper, but work well for most applications.
