I guess you believe people are entitled to the services of others even though they can't afford them?

I believe there needs to be balance... Im an insurance agent for humana... and i see lots of hard working people, on a daily basis, who DONT receive any assistance from the government and they cant afford the crazy premiums and deductibles....

I think a majority of people on this board have been screwed by insurance companies in one way or the other....

"services of others" .... you mean people in the healthcare field??

Get off my lawn.
I mean the services of others whatever PRIVATE field they may be in.

People can't afford deductibles so do you believe that money should be taken from those that can afford it?

I'm very blessed to be healthy and have insurance coverage though my work. I pay a lot for it and until I meet my deductible it is all out of my pocket anyway regardless of those premiums they take out of my check every month. Insurance is just that...insurance. It isn't how you pay for health care in general, it is how you pay for it if something major goes wrong. Some people believe that they shouldn't have to pay for insurance and when something goes wrong they believe that someone else should take care of it. Just replace health care with any other thing you'd buy insurance for and you're still talking about the same people. They're the ones that want something for nothing and blame it on not being able to afford thing.

no i dont think that.... BUT i do think there should be more regulations on private insurance companies....

premiums and deductibles will continue to go up and no one will be able to afford them.... then what??

Which Obama care has shown will cause...

All more regulation does is increase costs and thus premiums.

Insurance companies are not charities. They are in business to make money. If they can't make money they go out of business or find something else to sell.

It's the way capitalism works.

Of course we can embrace socialism and everyone will benefit right up to the point where the producers run out of money to support the non-producers.

...then what??

Ever consider that regulations are the problem? Maybe with tort reform some things could change?

I don't think tort reform is the big panacea everyone thinks it is. Multiple culprits conspire to make health care unaffordable. Runaway R&D costs, excessive equipment costs, regulatory complexity, coverage for those who don't pay a dime, enormous insurance reserve pools, outlandish executive compensation, high dividend payouts AND the occasional runaway jury verdict all conspire to make health care and insurance unaffordable.

No single one of these things is the straw that broke the camel's back. All of them combined is the redwood tree that obliterated it! :(

Time's up.

Now it seems to me that the free market will correct itself. Do you really think that insurance companies are going to price themselves out of existence? I tend to think not. They are in business to make money, not go broke for lack of customers...
