We're going to be camping at Taylor Ferry on Fort Gibson Lake Labor Day weekend. Does anyone know of a range that doesn't require a membership close by where we could do some shooting while we're there?
There is an un-manned, un-supervised, un-anything range on Corps property East of Wagoner, just West of where you will be. It has had some major problems in the past. An older gentleman was robbed and shot there about a year or so ago early in the morning. You can search this site or others might give you more detailed information.
There is also a big sign North of Wagoner on 69 on the West side of the road advertising CC licensing and an indoor range, but I have not checked them out, I need to, they are not too far from me. 918-485-5028. Hope others can give us more information.
The range east of Wagoner is the only free one that I know of. The one north of Wagoner belongs to Larry Cheatham but I think it is only used for CC classes.
I think you have to have a hunting license for to shoot at fort Gibson wma, like the Lexington wma. Here is a link below. I've been wanting to go out there and check it out myself.
I haven't been out there in years since I had loaded guns pointed at me and my kids on the last 3 visits.
I decided to get a membership to a gun club, it's a little safer.
It is called Toppers WMA range by the way, 2 miles past Wagoner county courthouse, on the right. ya have to track about 100 yds from the parking area to the tables.
