Perhaps Broken Bow State Park, but this late in the year the accommodations might be all booked up through the summer. When they’re releasing water through the dam upstream from there, the air temperature can be 10-15° cooler on the river bank than at the park‘s parking lot 100 yards away.
That area is definitely in contention. Thank you

Orange beach, Alabama gulf coast. Went there last August...I think were going to go again this summer. Reasonably priced condo we rented off of VRBO. VRBO, IMHO is much better and less scammy than airbnb. Up front pricing, no BS. Lots of things to do there, it's not a vacation in my opinion unless there's hot and salt water.
I will check that out. Thanks

We love Durango area and Colorado Springs.... The great thing about Colorado Springs is not only do you have Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods it is just a hop skip and a jump to Denver and the Royal Gorge (Pueblo areas).... Durango has a great scenic train ride and the Royal Gorge has a nice train ride too.....Manitou Springs (close to Colorado Springs) has fantastic shops and an old school game arcade that has every pin-ball machine and old school video games that you can think of, all still for just a quarter a play.....

If you want to go cooler weather, look into Sipapu Ski Resort just south of Taos, NM. They have a river through the grounds, a couple fishing ponds, and the best part - NO PHONE SIGNAL! At least our phones didn't work there. And they're fairly cheap, plus have a variety of accomodations, like duplexes, lodge rooms, "apartments", etc. Plus you're right off the loop of Red River, Taos, etc
