I think a duster would be fine.
Only if you wear this, will you truly fit in.
Are you able to take it inside where you work or is the plan to leave it in the truck while you are working?
If you are not able to keep an eye on the vehicle I wouldn't keep a firearm in it. But that is just me.
When I drive to go shoot and sometimes a few hours drive I keep the rifles in the passenger front seat.
Or if I have a passenger they are in the back seat.

An AR is so easy to take down and store though. It will fit into a box or a bag no one would think big enough for an AR to fit into.
I would go with an underfolder AK, I carry that occasionally in the back of the truck under the seat when I am in a place I don’t really want to be. Never had a need for it but if I did it sure would be handy.

Well I guess I was saying that if I had one, or any guns at all for that matter……. I would likely keep it in the truck when I went to places I didn’t want to go
If it were me, I’d get an AR pistol with a brace.
