Watch the video. You are correct, however the ammo situation was criminal, not merely negligence.From what I've read over the years, it seemed to be more of a problem with the ammunition, than the rifles.

Yes, the bolt carrier and barrel were both chrome-lined. But that only helps with corrosive ammo.
