Yes, but other insurance companies won't return anything. And that money would have gone toward my next renewal. Which would have reduced the total premium by $800.

I'm pretty sure that was a pro rated refund for the cancellation of the policy and additional months of coverage that were prepaid but not used. I don't think it was any bonus unless it was a dividend payment but I suspect those are forfeited at cancellation. All companies are required to refund it.

800 is nearly my entire year with of premium on two cars. Dividends are usually dozens of dollars.

I get several hundred every year back from USAA around Christmas. And a second one in January since I turned sixty two
