I just love it when folks key in on one thing -- for instance, petrol consumption -- and totally lose perspective on the big picture.

I mean, what's more environmentally friendly than a car with TWO engines? Especially one that is powered by NiMH batteries.

Don't worry about the short-term costs environmentally of having to mine and manufacture those batteries, nor what they're going to eventually cost to replace, or what they'll cost to dispose of...think of all the pennies you are saving at the gas pumps!!!

I'm a HUGE Toyota 4x4 fan. I think they are the best vehicles ever made. Still, the Prius annoys me. I agree, get a Volkswagen TDI if you want fuel economy.
