With my kids running around my place, this is what I worry about.
Last weekend a "skin and bones" dog walked up covered in fleas and had mange. No collar and barely alive. What would you do? This was sickening to look at
An old friend of mine took one in just like that. Fed it...got rid of the mange...turned out to be one of the best dogs he ever had.
Well...caught one of them this morning - after the deer were hauling azz out of the forest and into the roadway. Found out this one belongs to someone about two miles away. Called owner and stated problem, returned little girls pet, this time. We'll see how this goes. Confidence is pretty low though.
You are probably spot on with your thinking Easy. The dog will continue chasing.
It will continue as they never stop chasing once they start. Get a suppressor for your rifle and SSS. You'll thank yourself later and will wish you had done it earlier. Deer season is too short to put up with all of that crap.
