1. Sounds like these parents aren't so decent after all, as this teaches intolerance. Many "decent" people didn't want their pure white children being taught alongside filthy blacks. Ignorance is ignorance.

2. The schools should teach facts. Scientific evidence suggests that homosexuality is of biological doing. It's displayed in the animal world across the majority of species. Before you use the argument that, "Well animals don't have a conscious, so that doesn't count!", science evidence also suggests that animals do, in fact, possess consciousness. Church is where children get indoctrinated to hate anyone who is different than themselves.

3. Touching on #2, it is not a choice. Why would anyone CHOOSE to be a minority known for discrimination, social torment, bullying, assault, and brutal murder? Did you choose to be straight? Choose to find another man sexually and emotionally attractive. You can't, can you? Try as hard as you can and it won't work, assuming you're a heterosexual. Maybe then you will realize how it's just as impossible for a gay man to find a woman sexually and emotionally attractive.

to #2- To me, this makes the point about as clearly as possible. Even if animals are not self-aware, which they are, but if you believe they are not, yet can be born gay, makes the point that it is in fact a biological issue. People don't choose to be black, or white, or gay or straight or Down's Syndrome. It is biological, nothing more. Those that truly believe God will judge homosexuals to damnation have a really messed up idea of God. Organized religion is the bastardization of all thing holy. Nothing more than man's interpretation of divine inspiration twisted to suit their own personal agenda. I have to wonder how many of you guys who are so against these rights being extended to American citizens are members of the Westboro gang. After all, God hates fags, right? Freedom is freedom for all men, there should be no restrictions based on religious ideology or because dudes kissing each other creeps you out. You are on the oppressor here, not them.

So to play the devil's advocate, what's the solution? What if there were issues that you didn't agree with and felt like you were being forced to accept them? What would you do?

I was replying to the OP.

But, I agree, as a libertarian, the Government shouldn't be involved. However, since they are involved, I do like to see steps (even if just baby steps) towards true equality as promised in the Constitution.

I didn't personally know our founding fathers, but considering homosexuality has been documented much further back than the birth of the US, I would assume they're intelligent enough to include a "except those damn queers!" disclaimer in the Constitution.

Same thing I do when I analyze my life. Determine what is really important to me, work on those things, protect those things, and let the things that do not matter to me so much take a backseat.

If you're upset over someone else "gaining" rights that you had all along, maybe some self-reflection is in order.
