I'm seriously considering a "health sharing" plan. Anybody got any experience with them?

Lower "deductible" on most, one has quite a few more "deductible" choices and the commensurate pricing tiers and there was even one that had a disability option. I really like this concept as it kind of pokes a thumb into the eye of big brother. My cost at close to my current HSA deductible and age is around $270 a month. Folks that beats BCBS to a bloody pulp!

Unfortunately, Obama and the Democrats pushed Obamacare in a room that had the door locked to keep Republic cans out. Not saying the Repubs would have done a better job but they were excluded in the passage of The ACA (Obamacare).
What has happened we didn't know it at the time, but Obamacare is one of Obama's means of wealth distribution and it has hurt the working families because our premiums include the cost of providing health insurance at least partially to those that don't or won't work, illegals and Obama's influx of Syrian "immigrants."
He is also trying to push a tax-again on the taxpayers families regarding "Global Warming" which will further destroy our standard of living by not being able to send our children to college which would prevent them from a higher standard of living.
All we can do is vote and one candidate has already said they'll increase the numbers of Mideast refugees fourfold if not more and will continue Obama's policies.
You can choose whom you'll vote for that is your Privilge and right but dang me they oughta take a rope and hang me if a Democrat gets in again, they have hurt us bad! The American Dream of bettering ourselves is rapidly slipping away.

The more individuals that are healthy and don't participate in ACA qualified plans, the better. I hope more people start choosing to pay the penalty too.

And if I remember right, it hasn't even hit Big Employers hard yet, that has been pushed back till after this election or possibly 2018. So those of you that aren't in the same boat as us "self employed" insured, get ready. You're probably going to get Hit in the next couple of years when big employers start cutting back on insurance to stave off the huge increases that are coming. The insurance price increases are just starting...

It's ALL about wealth redistribution, taking from those who Do and giving to those who Do not.

HSAs are a triple tax vehicle. Because there is so much info on them and I don't want to type it out...

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+a+HSA?

They are not relevant to people on medicare.

I just became eligible for Medicare, and along with the VA, I'm in pretty good shape. My concern is wanting my wife to retire early at like 61 next year. That will make her have to pay even more under the current plan that's expected to go even higher in 2017 according to what I'm hearing.

I have heard on the Radio of something called Medi-share that one can get. Supposed to be a Christian sharing organization where all enrollee's share any medical expenses with the premiums they pay?
That made me think that's how insurance is supposed to work anyway, but has anybody ever looked into Medi-share?

I haven't heard of or looked into Medi-share specifically, but somebody earlier mentioned Christian Ministries and I did some searching on them. Same type of thing.

The young adults just starting out are going good to have a more difficult time moving up in life due to the draconian rates of Obamacare. they absolutely have to come up with something that won't hurt people-and the economy so badly. People have less money to spend and the economy is in the doldrums and has been for several years.

The only thing they've come up with so far is a high deductible plan with a HSA attached. You use your money for everything up to the deductible, no copays, no nothing. But HSA deposits are tax free. I tried this until my wife's crazy migraines came back. One MRI wiped it out instantly and had me in the red. Went right back to the usual plan next open enrollment.

I used my business to join the Chamber of Commerce, because then you can get group rates on insurance. It is still pricey, 1400/month (family of 5) for a really decent plan with low co-pays and low out of pocket and deductible.
