"Military service makes men less tolerant and accommodating of undisciplined, neurotic, no-attention-to-detail civilians and the relentless barrage of frivolous crap and bu!!**** inundating society. Is that grumpy?"

Nope! Right on track!
When one has actually been there and done that, and have the scars to prove it, the "I read it on the internet" crowd doesn't hold much water in
My opinion.
I LAWL at the Internet ninja's that have never experienced the horror of seeing the person next to you evaporate in a red mist, or see their last breath with the back side of their head gone, talk about how bad a$$ they would be I'm a gunfight.
I'd better stop here before some idiot says pics or it didn't happen. BTW I have them.

I am totally guilty of that syndrome to a fault. I can't go anywhere without running in to civilians who have no pride in anything and basically suck at life. I think we should start a support group for those of us that need coping skills. I retired in 03' and 9 years later, it's not getting any easier.

I also find that most of the firewall bad@sses have zero empty hand skills and therefore carry two guns, 4 mags, three knives, two tactical pens, a pepper spray, stun gun and baton to 7-11 to fill up the tank at 9am.

LOL I thought maybe I was the only one that felt that way. Seems like when a person lives thru real combat, or goes thru it year after year, we seem to feel like life is fairly simple. Then you come home and hear people complaining about meaningless things and get all buthurt over stupid crap, I feel like screaming out loud how stupid they are for complaining about stupid crap, and try living in the dirt for years with bullets and bombs, then packing your friend parts into body bags to send home, when only a few minutes earlier they were sitting or standing right next to you. I will stop now,,,,,,,

I've never been in combat, or in the military at all, and I feel that way all the time.

Does this mean I should enlist?

LDP, I've never been in the military, but I rather prefer to be around the type of man you described. Much less tolerant of BS, more squared away and result driven. As a general rule that is.

My wife and I served a combined 47 years active duty and have found that we tend to be more tolernt of 'others' ..... Doesn't mean we give them a 'free ride' and we will 'take them to task' when it is called for. JMO

A bit of a stereotype perhaps, but I know I have little patience for whiners, mall ninjas, internet commandos, and especially posers! I can't stand a low-life stinkin' poser. I did 21+ years in the Marine Corps; so when someone bitches about petty crap, it does tend to get under my skin a bit. Maybe it's just oldtimer's disease kicking in.
