My uninformed guess is that this guy had a history. The cop(s) who pulled him over knew him, maybe he had previously done that before, who knows.

The big questions that I want answered, was he being an a$$ when they first stopped him?

Do either of those give law enforcement the right to dole out three cavity searches, and x-ray, and a colonoscopy? It's frightening if citizens now view "being an ass" to a cop a legitimate reason to do repeated cave diving episodes to someone.

I hope, like most of us must as well that the story is bogus. but there are medical charts/records, hospital bills showing the procedures performed. Plus the signed warrant.

I am starting to think it strange the guy didn't want to be interviewed. Maybe he is just embarrassed or maybe he doesn't want to answer questions??

I'm gonna go with a third possibility here. His attorney has told him to not speak to anyone about what happened and, unlike 99.9% of the population, he is actually taking his attorney's advice. I hope so.

Once they stick a warrant in your face for an involuntary blood draw.....you complain all you want, but an attorney cant stop them at that point. I guess they extended that to anal cavity probing, forced enemas and knocking you out for a colon camera snake.

They left the county where the warrant was issued, per the story, and also continued executing "searches" after the original warrant had expired. Lots of potential issues here.

The big questions that I want answered, was he being an a$$ when they first stopped him? Did he say those magic words "I want my lawyer"? Is this story true or just another attempt to make the cops look bad? Or were the all the cops involved, the judge, the medical personal, etc in the wrong?

Sorry but there have been far to many of these stories that later turned out to be lies for me to get excited without some serious proof. It seems anymore that suspects get tried in a court of law but LEOs get tried in the court of public opinion.

As I stated in my post, it doesn't make a single bit of difference what he did during the stop. It doesn't matter if he's a formerly convicted drug dealer. If a x-ray and digital rectal exam doesn't produce contraband, doing three enemas and a colonoscopy to look for dope that isn't there is beyond stupid, it's criminal.

I doubt any man would be interested in giving a public interview after being forced to defecate in front of people and butt raped. That's not exactly something I'd ever be interested in discussing with anyone, except that which was necessary to ensure the incarceration of the perpetrators.

Exactly. If the facts are accurate (and they all seem easily verifiable), then I would accept nothing less than prison for the perpetrators (not the judge and sheriff) and a payout large enough that I could leave and never see that Godawful place again for the rest of my life. :(

Two things come to mind when reading this article (beyond the initial "holy crap there's no way this actually happened"):

1. I seriously don't want to be a Cop right now. The good ones out there have earned more respect from me when reading articles like this - you guys must get a ton of $#!+ from folks who group everything together, and yet you still have to do your job to protect those same people. Kudos to the good ones out there and I don't envy your situation out there one bit.

2. What happens when something like this goes too far in front of enough citizens who see it and decide to intervene (and do so properly with a citizens arrest of the folks breaking the law)? There are more and more stories like this popping up (not just police, but government organizations abusing power) and America does have significantly more "jump in and intervene" type folks than a lot of other countries out there, so it's bound to happen one of these days. Will Federal DHS troops be sent in to deal with the "insurgents"? Will the people be railroaded by the media/system?

Glenn Beck interviewed this guy's lawyers today. He might end up owning the county before it's over.

The biggest problem I have with this is that those corrupt/incompetent folks in charge of things rarely get called out and replaced when this happens - so we all think "good, they learned their lesson" but in reality, the puppet-masters and those in charge do not. Someone had to have known this stuff was going on (the PD Chief, the mayor, City Council, etc...) as this isn't the first time this has occurred in NM. Those that did the action should be fired/prosecuted, but those who were behind it or allowed it should also be held accountable.

There is talk the police report states they have dealt with guy previously and him hiding drugs in his butt. This is the reason being given the warrant was issued in the first place.

Also, he was released after being ticketed, but as he walked away he was asked if they could search him and his truck. He told them they could search the truck, but not his person. Raising suspicion.

I have not read the report myself. Just heard rumors of the above.
