I got on this kick in January of this year and it just so happened it was with beans. My wife and i both work, so I try to cook a couple times a week. After my surgery, I was stuck at the house bored out of my mind. The first day I cooked up a pot of beans with lots of ham and peppers, fried potatoes and salad. The next day I made a meat and red beans thing with bell peppers and onions. Day three I was watching some tv when I came across a cooking show about sausage bean pasta and made it (hell we had all the stuff).
Day 4 I woke to a note on the refrigerator that said "If you check inside, you will find every inch filled with bowls of beans. If you want them, eat them during the day. If not, throw them out. PS. I love you for cooking for me (so nice) but if you cook one more thing with a bean in it, I'm moving".
I LOVE your wife! :pms2:

My "High" BP was in the 130 range. 25mg of Metoprolol brought it down to the 117 range.
The only other drug I take is a statin. I hate it because you can't eat grapefruit when taking it.
I could just about live on grapefruit, going through a 5lb bag a week for breakfast before the statin.
Pinto beans with a large amount of ham and onion is one of the favorite meals.
It HAS to be topped with a big tablespoon of horseradish though. The really hot stuff.

I like hot stuff (lol, within reason), but the taste of horseradish just never appealed to me.

Pickled/sliced jalapenos are my drug ... err ... "hot stuff" of choice, but I also like tabasco and chipotle. :D
My wife of 29.5 years had never tasted horseradish prior to my intervention into her life.
She won't eat beans without it now. I converted a lot of folks at the Power Plant over the years.
It is a different taste though.

She's a great gal that has no appreciation of my limited cooking skills.
