My faucet in the bath tub is dripping. I've determined that the valve stem needs replacing.

Like any good homeowner who has absolutely no clue what they are doing, I have watched a thousand YouTube videos and decided I can do this. My question is are there any sneaky problems I need to look out for? Is is REALLY as straightforward as looks in the videos?? Or am I living a pipedream and just need to call that handsome plumber who was out here last time I had a plumbing problem I couldn't fix?? :anyone:

I trust you guys to steer me in the right direction. God knows why! Lol:rotflmao:

It shouldn’t be difficult at all. I am not a plumber. Use to be a handy man and have done lots of plumbing. You should be able to do it. Maybe a Screw driver for the cover, Possibly an Allen wrench and the correct wrench is about all you need. Make sure to shut the water meter of and go to town. Most plumbers nowadays charge entirely too much. That work there would be Approximately an hours work.

If it's a cartridge type (washerless), replace the cartridge (and the spring/rubber cup if so equipped). Easy-peasy.

If it's a washer type, the seats may also need replacing if it's leaked for a long period. The seats screw into the faucet and usually have either a hex or square hole in the center to remove/replace them.

Luck. :drunk2:
