maybe if you participated in more than just the classifieds you would have already known
Ok Miss Judging Judy. Wanna come down off that high horse? Boy i sure remember you from 10+ years ago on my old account. Haven't changed I see. You literally had the same garbage hot take all those years ago toward me and anyone else who doesn't "participate" as much or in the same manner as you. Did you ever think maybe some people have better things to do and actual responsibilities (you know, a thing called a life) and can't sit around "participating" as much as they would like or are able to. No, clearly you didn't think before making yet another similar snide comment towards someone. I'm lucky if I'm able to get on here to scan the Classifieds for 2mins every couple of days. And lets be honest. One click on "Whats New" and theres a whole whopping...4 new threads (that aren't classifieds) started in the last 4 days. So how about you let people "participate" when they can or when they want, and on what they want to and not judge someone for not knowing who the site owner is when their account isn't even labeled as the owner. Ok? Thannnnnks! :)

My two cents: In reading a lot of the comments here, it's pretty obvious that OSA is more than just "gun talk" to a lot of us. Face it, we are in large part, a "social media" group; a clubhouse; a place to idle the hours away...Some people are here just to use the Classifieds, some are here for the daily banter we get in General Discussions, (and others) and some are here for the wealth of knowledge that is shared in the many sections of OSA. Friends I've made? I couldn't even begin to guess. Best place to buy, sell, or trade? Without a doubt.

in my opinion, being a Site Supporter has some definite advantages; one of which is access to "The Feed", where you can view new posts in real time as people chime in, no matter where or in what section they post. When I log in, I open up The Feed first then select one of the posted messages so I can use that new window (that pops up) to browse the site all the while keeping The Feed open and in the background in it's own separate window. It's a good way for those of us who are to basically here to just talk about firearms related stuff and banter back and forth about some "real serious bidness". Where else can one debate the 'Question of the Ages' (Glocks are Better than the 1911), or get just downright flat into it over 9mm vs .45ACP.

As far as the classifieds go, I just read (from What's New) and The Feed and move on. If I want to buy, sell, or trade, I choose to deal with established members only. That basically means that if I recognize the persons user name and how well they participate, then I have a level of trust that allays any fears or worries one might get from a "New to the Site" kinda guy. There's a lot, a majority even, of members I have never met in person here. But when I see something pop up (from The Feed maybe) and I want to buy/sell/trade and this is in my interest, I check 'em out. How? I look at their site profile; feedback, areas posted in, etc. Then I can make an informed decision about doing business with them.

In closing, I encourage each of you to to become a Site Supporter. OSA is a place for us to learn, to discuss, and sometimes just a comfortable place to just hang out.

Was trying to figure out why my 5 year option did not come up. Finally figured out that I have not expired yet. (I like that in many ways, glad to know I am still here) haha

I do highly recommend supporting this site. Many reasons that to me are a nobrainer. Some here have mentioned the Classifieds, myself I have bought enough stuff here at bargain prices I could have not found anywhere else enough to pay for my contribution many times over and over.

This site has so much about firearms from what is new, experiences, tips, things to try or to think about trying, (Instead of buying a $60 spotting scope, how about using that old 35mm dead camera with a 200x lens in the top of the closet on the tripod I had for it?) firearms or ammunition new to the market, things about older firearms, techniques whether it be sighting, (saved a years $ in ammo with one tip with a new rifle), improving your shooting, up coming events (Firearms and many other hobbies, including ham radio and airshows and other fun stuff), hunting many different animals, (including fishing) blowing up stuff with tanerite and what to watch out for with oven doors coming back at you. haha Then we have the arguments, which is better Glock vs Colt 1911 which give a lot of detail of each one of items a newbie might not think about along with opinions on everything, Ford vs Chevy to should I even mention politics. haha Did I mention a wide variety of stuff? Click what you want, pass over what you are not interested in. Simple.

Hell can not even start to describe why this is my go to site. Want any news first, go to OSA, other people are searching for you. Whether it be a new model of pistol, some politician is trying to slap down 2A, or Chuck Yeager passed away.

It is all here, first thanks to the diverse amount of derelicts here like me who are interested in firearms and other weird stuff that share their interests and weird opinions, but most importantly feel comfortable throwing their knowledge, sometimes just opinions, and sometimes Just stupid a@@ed questions which generate a lot of thoughtful knowledge out for the the rest of us to read or just click on past. If I stay on this site, I am thinking about using it for training to be a "smart a@@" myself.

I just signed up as a 2 yr. supporter, it’s pretty dang cheap for all the entertainment I get on here, when I’m waiting for a customer to show up at a job or waiting in a long line at the bank or maybe for a Dr. visit I can jump on here and see what’s going on. 25.00 for 2 yrs is cheap.

The advertising world has changed dramatically in the last couple years. There used to be 2 large ad networks that worked with gun websites, and at the same time they were also offering to buy gun websites, and over the years they created their own large networks of sites that they owned.

Then, a year or two ago, those two companies merged into one and basically cut loose any websites that they didn't own themselves and now they just run ads on their own network, basically sites like ours were not needed anymore. Once the companies merged the site lost 95% of its revenue immediately. (That was a bad day.)

There are still other ad networks, but they have decided it's not worth it to work with sites that have anything to do with guns.

I’ve been a supporter a while and will again. Personally, I’d like to see the forum owned by users who participate and have been around a long time. I disagree with the open classifieds and think you should have a minimum post count to post there. Plenty of other ways to participate without the first post being an ad. I’d be interested in joining with a couple of other like minded members to purchase the forum if it were offered for sale at a reasonable price. I don’t know anything about running a forum so my fingers may be overloading my brain here but something to think about. For me, it wouldn’t be to make money but to offer a service to the community I’ve enjoyed for 16 years.

What I know is you have 17 posts , 4 in this thread and the rest in classifieds. You use this forum for your benefit , but contribute nothing to the community. Call it having a life or whatever. But the proper term is leech. Then you have the gall to get your panties in a bunch because the site owner ask for a little help with expenses. The worst kind of forum member in my opinion........
