What I mean is, the $9.2million we spend each day incarcerating non-violent drug offenders might be better spent to develop a working rehabilitation process. Don't get me wrong, I know addicts dont clean up until they're ready to, but offering a better alternative than a life down a dead end rap sheet would probably have a better result and end up costing less as we wouldn't have to subsidize such a high prison population.

Might even be able to convince a church or two to hop on board with an outreach to these 'undesirables' and keep that mission money stateside.

Yep, agree.

Health care premiums are though the roof now because of the disaster called obamcare.
My wife has to pay over $1000 per month for her $5000 deductible "insurance" Splain to me how that improves the health care industry when the insurance industry backed it?
Healthcare premiums are through the roof because Nixon paved the way for HMOs and Reagan further enabled it. The healthcare insurance companies became so powerful that no democrat or republican administration has been able to meaningfully combat them. It is comical to think that you can blame that on Obama. LOL

5 years ago I paid about $1000 month for cobra for my family of 4. It was decent but not great coverage, 500 deductible. Now, under obamacare, I pay $1453 month for 5k deductible crap insurance that we won't be able to even use barring a catastrophic illness. Obamacare is absolutely ridiculous. Which I believe was by design to get to a single payor system.

Exactly! The Dimocrats can try to spin it anyway they want, but it is there policies prevent competition in healthcare that can lower prices.

What makes you think it would have been less expensive otherwise? Cobra is intended to be temporary coverage. The insurance companies have controlled the game since Nixon set it up that way.....obamacare or not. This is Nixon's doing, not Obama's. The reason you have poor coverage for an expensive price is because R legislators enable (and continue to enable) power to corporate healthcare entities. Obama's attempt didn't improve it, but you can better believe it would be even worse otherwise.

There is no doubt that major corporations in the healthcare industry have been driving costs for decades, but to let the ACA off the hook in the complete destruction of health insurance benefits for the average working family in America is disingenuous at best. Healthcare premiums have risen astronomically while coverages shrink and shrink since the ACA. The average deductible from what I've seen has absolutely skyrocketed since 2012.

Mine's at almost $8k per individual, nearly $16k per family. Yes, that's deductible. Premiums for my family are I think about $7-8k per year, not counting employer contribution. It's insane.

I don't think you can lay blame solely on any party involved in Healthcare. It's all been driven sky high for the sake of profits, and everyone involved wants theirs. Insurance co's, drug manufacturers, hospitals, doctors, etc... If insurance only pays X%, the answer to more money is to inflate the cost of service at the base with doctors and work their way up through the tier of industry... at least, that was the reason we agreed single payer wouldn't work during the 2016 election cycle.

Those insurance companies, pharma mfgs, hospitals, doctors, and all the other related industries, employ a lot of good folks, and as their salaries increase, govt regulations, and the other costs of doing business, the cost of doing business continues to go up. I know something of the pharma business, and while their revenues have increased over recent years, their profits have not.
