Giggle switch . . .

Never heard of this type of device . . . until reading through Google News and saw this:

D.C. police are becoming increasingly alarmed over an illegal device called a giggle switch that can turn a semiautomatic pistol into a fully automatic machine gun.

In recent weeks, officers have found as many as five of them on the backs of pistols in two neighborhoods in Northeast.

“It’s a big problem; it’s a huge problem,” D.C. police Cmdr. Ramey Kyle said. “You know, guns are inherently dangerous, and with these switches, that’s magnified 10, 20 times.”

My thoughts were always that I wish more people could have these legally. Anecdotally, they’re too damn hard to control so if someone was up to no good, I think the likelihood of someone getting hit my a round would be much lower than someone being calm and calculated and having to pull the trigger each time.

You mean the likelihood of their intended target being hit would be much lower. The likelihood of hitting something you did not intend to shoot would be much greater.

You gotta be a dumbazz to buy one of these and not think its a sting operation. I saw one report about them selling them on Amazon and Wish and people getting knocks on their doors by dog shooting men driving black SUVs

Giggle switches and rock and roll switches are illegal unless it’s one round per trigger pull, or one has paid the tax to the gubberment. I’ll stay a long way away from them like the bump stock and braces.

Curious about something. Is the possession of this illegal by itself? or is it just illegal if you possess it in conjunction with a glock it can be fitted to?
