Honda Mower Carb Issue?

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking that I'll put my G34 in the classifieds, use the proceeds to buy them a nice new electric mower (which I think would be better for them since there is nearly zero maintenance needed), and then I might take the Honda to see if I can fix it. It might be nice to have a second mower, or perhaps @Oklahomabassin or another OSA'er would like to get it and take care of the carb issue. I think you all are right though, and it is probably a pretty simple fix. I am seeing this as just an opportunity remove any future mower headaches for my mother and step father. They aren't getting any younger, and every little thing helps I suppose.

Nowadays you can just spend $15 on amazon and get a brand new Chinese carb and you're back in biz. No need to tinker with anything.

Thanks! That's good info. I posted the G34. I think the better thing to do would be to get them an electric. I'll fix up their mower and keep in the shed as a backup it or let it go to an OSA'er if they could use it.

My cousin bought a new carb for $30 for his Bad Boy zero turn mower and it runs like new.

Wow, I didn't even realize they were that cheap. I just checked Amazon, and dang! Tons of option between $15 and $30. That'll be my route I take when I bring it home. Easier than rebuilding it.

I had a Honda-powered mower that was surging and I assumed it was old enough to get a new one. Gave it to a friend and bought a new Honda-powered mower, but had the same problem. The common denominator: remembered I had changed where I bought mower gas and was using non 100% gas in both of them. Drained the tank, filled up with 100% gas, and no issues since. I also use Sea Foam additive at the end of the mowing season and no start up problems in the spring. Finally, make sure the air filter is clean. I buy packages of them on Amazon and change them a couple of times a season. Also take them off and bang them against the house to clean them out a bit before I have to change them out.
