On his Danger Close podcast this week, Jack Carr gave listeners a sneak-peek at the fifth novel in his Terminal List series, playing the Prologue from the audiobook version of In the Blood on his show.

Add in any John Le Carre’ novel. That is a pen name by the way. He wrote about what he lived. His stuff is scary, more so when you understand bits are real or could be.

I just finished David Morrell's First Blood. The Stallone movie of the same name is based on the novel, but there are some significant differences. They're significant enough that they really won't spoil each other, so even if you've seen the movie, it's worth reading the novel.

I’m kind of a book worm and love to read. Currently reading the Alex Cross series By James Patterson, finished the memory man series by David Baldacci (highly recommend), and a few others here and there. I also like to read military non fiction but it’s harder to find good ones on the Libby system for Tulsa area.

What are some good recommendations for what to read next?
Try The Prize
I don’t remember who wrote it but it’s about the rise and fall of Standard Oil.
if you an oilfield hater don’t bother.

I'm currently in the middle of Damn Lucky, the story of John "Lucky" Luckadoo, a B-17 copilot in the Bloody 100th Bomb Group during WWII, as written by Kevin Maurer (Mark Owen's co-writer on No Easy Day). Luckadoo is still alive and kicking (he's 104, IIRC), and was recently on Jack Carr's Danger Close podcast (which was how I heard about the book).

Here's Maurer and Luckadoo (mostly Luckadoo):

That dang Jack Carr has caused me to pick up several new books this week, so I'm torn about which one to read after Damn Lucky. Because of his interviews, in addition to Damn Lucky, I got copies of Ric Prado's Black Ops (about Ric's time in the CIA's ground branch), and Meyli Chapin's Terrorist Attack Girl (she was in a hotel in Nairobi that was stormed by terrorists). Then I found out that James Hornfischer's final book, Who Can Hold the Sea, was released, so I naturally had to pick up a copy of it...
