About this time last year, I came up with a small stress fracture below one of my artificial knees, and then a quick bout with Covid. Between the two, I got badly out of shape in a hurry. (Not a really good shape to begin with). I couldn’t walk past two homes and back without being totally out of breath. Been working on it and just this week I was able to take a two mile walk in the evenings. Not satisfied yet, but for being a 75 year old accountant, that’s not too bad. Trying to get back to at least five mile walks.

Too answer the original question, at least trying to be “in shape” is quite important no matter what the age or occupation.

I don't know. I wonder if all the concern with being overweight is overblown. If you can still get out of the house, maybe go to a football game, "hang out" and make new friends, drink a beer or 6, maybe you're gonna be OK after all. Maybe. 🙂

Not in OKC these days. Guy got shot yesterday after an argument about his car breaking down and blocking the road.
Geez, use to people would help you push it off the road. Doesn't sound like there was much of a wrasslin match though. Unless you left something out of the story.

Definitely not my experience either. I went from driving with my front bumper firmly planted in the trunk of whoever got in front of me to doing 1-5 over in the slow lane listening to jazz. I even weaned myself off Lexapro.

However, that definitely does go to show how much it can effect your general temperament and personality.
I'm gonna get some jazz CDs out and put in the car. Haven't listened to any in a long time. Fan of saxophonists. Some don't like them though.

I dunno what it is with me but carbs (even healthy ones) are the debil. I hurt all over, I'm lethargic, my appetite goes into overdrive and my pain issues go through the roof. It's NUTS ...
We have a friend that has to remain carb free. Don't know the entire story, but she refrains from anything containing carbs.

I’m 6’ 265 and have been into bodybuilding my entire life. TRT changed my life after I finished having kids. If you’re done with your sperm, I encourage every man alive to get on TRT. Test levels should not be 500. Get them to 1000 and you’ll feel 10,000 times better.

On the note of being in shape. Ive changed my mind since I have been an Officer. Ive been in plenty of fights with in shape dudes who run all the time with six packs who are useless because they don’t have violence in their hearts. I would take a violent person over an “in shape” guy any day.

There are two people I never want to be in a fight with. Neither of them look like me. They’re in decent enough shape, but you wouldn’t look at them twice.

If you’re in decent shape but you’re filled with violence in your heart, you’re more dangerous than those with six packs who “run 6 miles a day.”

I’ve never been in a fight for longer than 2 minutes. Too many cops rely on their belt tools too much. They’re weak and indecisive. PT tests and medical tests tell you very little about an individual other than if they have enough discipline to get into a gym. The more violent person will win 9/10 times over the better equipped person. Violence is what matters. It just so happens that the most violent people are usually in good shape. Lol
Agree 100%. I was a Wrestler in HS. The person that can take the most pain is the one that typically is the winner. Fighting is the same.
