There is some truth in there though. There are already traffic cams that issue you tickets for running red lights. Many politicians openly discuss doing away with the gas tax and charging by mile for road use since so many EVs are on the road and not paying the gas tax so revenues are dropping. They just haven't figure out a way to track it yet. The GPS in your vehicle already logs your location and travel so retrieving that info is just another technological barrier to overcome.

All one needs to do is look at previous technological advances and see how they can be perverted such as skimmers on gas pumps derived from card readers. As for people blindly agreeing with that article, how do you know the "followers" haven't given the scenario some thought? You stated that you wouldn't dismiss the possibility. I would imagine you gave that comment some thought. Ergo, you must agree with those agreeing that the article must have some validity.

to my knowledge, there are exactly ZERO new cars being made in the year 2023 without this technology already on the car.
ANYTHING that has an ECU that controls steering, your throttle body, and/or your brakes is "hackable", "kill switch", "remote shutdown" whatever you want to call it.

i'll told you this before, you can debate back and forth about the validity of this all you want; it's ALREADY happened and the as usual the governments likes to ask for permission WELL after the fact.
like i've said many, many times. an early OBDII car that has "modern" electronic features but yet still has a butterfly valve on a throttle body connected to a pedal, still has a steering wheel that is linked to the steering rack, that still has hydraulic brakes that work by pressurized fluid, that car is going to be worth HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

It might have some validity to generally support the woke corrupt govt claim because the technology exists, & I believe the govt will abuse it. But does the legislation actually include a kill switch, as the article claims? That’s my point & I don’t know because I didn’t read the bill. I did find another article with the opposing view. So we can research to form opinions.

However, history on this forum shows people will blindly believe partisan political stories with hyperbolic headlines, and even call for killing people based solely on one story. So, Im skeptical of these types of stories from either side of the political spectrum.They usually include a grain of truth, but with an exaggerated thesis.
