Is there really an installed “kill device” in this legislation? So, you buy a vehicle with that"kill device" installed. You are cruising down a remote highway, someone hacks into your system, your vehicle stops and you are robbed unless you have enough firepower to put them down. Someone pulls ahead of you and showers your vehicle with alcohol, your car stops because it smells the alcohol, and you are back in that vulnerable situation.
Someone invents a device so powerful it will shut down every vehicle within a quarter mile or so, regardless of whatever frequency your car has, and causes a major traffic blockage, and BOOM! Hundreds are murdered, vehicles are looted willy-nilly with impunity, and cops can't make it to the scene. It's science fiction come true.
Don't for one second believe those who concocted this legislation have not considered all the possibilities - and went ahead and approved it.
Trust no one in government. It isn't about safety. It's about control.

This ability exists today with the telematics used on construction equipment. The manufacturer can disable the machine where it cannot be restarted.
I think it's a good idea. It's going to allow police to "kill" the car of a suspect, so if it makes them just a little safer, I'm all for it. Just think of how this will stop the high-speed chases that get so many people killed.
