The lower the combination of mass and velocity for a given round, the lower the force the round has leaving the firearm, and (accordingly) the lower the recoil.

Without digging up specific manufacturer's statistics, the lighter rounds for a given caliber generally have lower recoil.

Your avatar shows that you are a skeet shooter. If so, you know that in 12gauge the 1oz kicks less than the 1 1/8oz.
I never cared for the 180gr even in full size guns, I believe that 165 or 155gr is better.
