Alec Baldwin would never point a gun at anyone and then pull the trigger, never.

Alec Baldwin: "I would never point a gun at anyone and then pull the trigger, never."

Prosecuting Attorney: "Mr. Baldwin, would you please watch these two short videos and once again swear under oath to your above comment made during a TV interview?"

Alec Baldwin 4 minutes later: "May I speak with my counsel and beg their forgiveness for not following their advice to shut my mouth and not do any interviews after the shooting?"

I just can't imagine this being anything but a horrific accident. But Baldwin needs to stop talking as he is only making himself look worse. It's not that I don't care about tube loss of life and the subsequent sadness of loved ones but the tragity keeps adding fuel to the gun hater fire. And if I was a family member of the lost i think I would want to grieve without all of the publicity.

I can't believe anyone would do a television interview during an on-going investigation. Wonder what his lawyer thought?
If he had any sense (that's asking a lot in America today, really asking for a lot in HOLLYWOOD, WASHINGTON D.C., etc) he talked to his lawyer and publicist before an interview.
I think I read that he's retained a damage control specialist or firm since the "incident."
BTW, he's not trying to convince you or I (firearms enthusiasts) about anything. He's trying to pave the way to get back into the good graces of Hollywood's elite by playing the victim card.
My very cynical take - when I heard about this interview, I wondered if the gun in question would appear and deliver the tagline, "I did it all by myself!"

I sincerely expect the gun to be in the evidence lockup and due to numb nutz's no pulling trigger statement, investigated thoroughly for malfunction.

If there was such investigation and findings of this possible malfunction, I will shut up on the matter.

I listened to the interview. I guess I'm trying to figure out how someone was shot and killed if he didn't point the gun, and didn't pull the trigger...

If the gun was in your hand, and the muzzle was facing the direction of a human, you pointed a gun at someone.

I can somewhat rationalize that if it was a single action, hammer cocked, in his ignorance of firearms he could have placed his finger on the trigger and inadvertently fired it. Not excusing it, but I can see how that would play out.

What my thought is this. The single action handgun may or may not have a half cock depending on when and where it was made. IF it didn't have a half cock then I suggest that it may be possible that he failed to pull the hammer to full cock before releasing the hammer. If this is the case then releasing the hammer before full cock could fire the handgun without the trigger being touched. Just a thought .........

I was explaining how a hammer on a gun can detonate a bullet to my Mother last night. I don't know anyone who thinks it prudent to point a gun at someone they don't intend to shoot, and especially taking the even more critically dangerous step of pulling back the hammer.

I'd bet that his attorney advised against it. But his ego tells him that he is so likeable and believeable that he just needs to tell the story and everyone will see he is the victim in this. Probably equal to the dead lady, in his mind.
