Doesn't apply to motorcycles.

Even then, I think that law rivals Oklahoma tint law for least enforcement.

********, not true.

12-101 references chapter 12 Article II, article 2 is the lighting portion of the motor vehicle code. In no place is does it exempt motorcycles from Chapter 12 article IV other equipment.

Title 47. Motor Vehicles

Oklahoma Statutes Citationized
Title 47. Motor Vehicles
Chapter 12 - Equipment of Vehicles
Article Article 1 - Scope and Effect of Regulations
Section 12-101 - Scope and Effect of Regulations
Cite as: O.S. §, __ __
...

C. The provisions of Article II et seq. of this chapter with respect to equipment on vehicles shall not apply to implements of husbandry, road machinery, road rollers, farm tractors, motorcycles as defined in Section 12-601 of this title, or vehicles designed to be moved solely by animal or human power, except as specifically made applicable in this chapter.

Oklahoma Statutes Citationized
Title 47. Motor Vehicles
Chapter 12 - Equipment of Vehicles
Article Article 4 - Other Equipment
Section 12-402 - Mufflers, Prevention of Noise
Cite as: O.S. §, __ __

A. Every vehicle shall be equipped, maintained, and operated so as to prevent excessive or unusual noise. Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with a muffler or other effective noise-suppressing system in good working order and in constant operation, and no person shall use a muffler cut-out, bypass or similar device. No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in any manner which will amplify or increase the noise or sound emitted louder than that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle.

B. The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke, or both.

12-601 which specifically covers motorcycles states the provisions of 12-201 subsection A, C, and D do apply. Which is Chapter 2. Chapter 2 only pertains to lighting... This prevents you from getting a ticket because you don't meet the lighting requirements for cars and trucks, and is also the way accent lighting is legal on motorcycles because it exempts them form most of the lighting restrictions placed on automobiles.

Upon further review Article VI specifically applies Article IV 12-402 to motorcycles.

There really is nothing unclear about it.

Oklahoma Statutes Citationized
Title 47. Motor Vehicles
Chapter 12 - Equipment of Vehicles
Article Article 6 - Motorcycles
Section 12-609 - Required Equipment
Cite as: O.S. §, __ __

A. In addition to other requirements prescribed by this chapter, by federal law or by local ordinance, all motorcycles, except when operated on actual trail rides conducted outside of public roads and highways, shall be equipped with:

...

6. A muffler or other effective noise-suppressing system which shall comply with the requirements of Section 12-402 of this title.

So what you're saying is that you have to be right in front of stereo speakers to hear anything out of a stereo?
Also, if what you say is true I shouldn't be able to hear my bike when in the saddle since the pipes exit behind me?

I know people hear me coming because I see them glance around to see where the sound is, and when the glare of the chrome hits they know.

The guys bumping the throttle while going though an underpass have to to be compensating for something....

Or they enjoy the sound of the engine.

I listened to a 26 minute long track video with the camera mounted back bumper just above the exhaust on an e39 M5 once... then again and again.

Sweeeeeet music to my ears.

The loudest exhaust I've ever heard was on a Kharman Ghia. Ear splitting.

Loudest exhaust I've ever heard was on a Dodge turbo diesel at full boost crossing my path on highway 36, I was on my motorcycle and had to cover my ears.

I've been told my 954 was very painful when i was up in the power band. I wish i had the gopro back then. I was told the flame it spit out the tail pipe on decel was a sight to see. Loudest I've heard is top fuel dragsters. But for sheer earsplitting pain it has to be Formula1 cars. I can listen to a pack of Harley's rumble down the road all day long but when you're sitting in front of the bar whacking the throttle over and over again you're just an annoying *******. The doppler shift of a moving bike does make it much quieter when it is behind you than when its in front. Loud pipes don't save lives. Training, skill, and gear saves lives. But loud pipes sound good.
