I never worked for AT&T in Oklahoma. I was with T-Mobile for my Oklahoma stint. They were building out their GSM/UMTS network there back in '09. Therefore I cannot say with any confidence what's going on in Oklahoma with AT&T. I can tell you this: GSM is dead. AT&T shut it off last December. It will soon follow for other carriers. And don't let some idiot kids in one store color your opinion about an entire network. Call customer service and complain. I have been to several AT&T stores where the employees are great. When I was with T-Mobile I would only deal with customer service because their store employees seemed only concerned with selling stuff. Understandable when you work on commission.

My own house is in a dead spot. There's nothing any carrier can do about it. I live halfway down a steep hill so the signal just overshoots us. But there are things that can be done if you tell customer service. Each carrier has different solutions. Some can give you a signal booster and some can give you an IP BTS that works with your wifi. Just threaten to leave them if they can't give you a solution. Ask them if they have a Customer Retention specialist. They are the ones that can really get things done.

You guys don't have time for me to tell you all the ways I absolutely LOATHE AT&T. Old man has a plan with them. Gah! It's his phone, he can do what he wants but I moved from them YEARS ago. I'm happy with my $30 phone and $30 plan from MetroPCS.

I also know what a problem a friend had trying to shut off her husband's phone after he died suddenly. She was not on his phone account and they refused to talk to her. If the old man goes before me, I'm gonna throw his phone in the lake and let them just disconnect it for non-payment. I ain't fooling with those assholes.

Please;tell us how you really feel...

Very true. Our local cable company was the same way. I couldn't disconnect the cable after mom passed away. They wouldn't even talk to me about how I could get around it.
I left them with a copy of her Death Certificate and an admonishment that they could sue the estate if they wished, but it had already gone through probate and all disbursements had been made.
Never heard from them again.
My wife and I have joint accounts on everything to prevent this in our future.

I have AT&T at the house. I have an app on IOS called "mark the spot".
If I have signal problems as we are in a fringe area, I start the app, and allow them to do a speed test. Most times I get an email back saying they have issues in the area, and are working to improve them. We occasionally get an email back from AT&T saying they have improved the service, and we do see some improvement for awhile, then it goes to crap again.
If you have AT&T, download that app and complain to them about the crappy service. I'm sure that complaint goes into a database and is seen by somebody somewhere.
If you don't complain you can't get it fixed.

The nearest T-Mobile tower to us is about 14 miles away. There is a Pioneer tower less than half a mile away and I don't understand why there is no roaming agreement between T-Mobile and Pioneer. We won't give up our legacy super cheap service plan that has only cost us $25.00 for each of the last two years(The most we ever paid was $100.00 for one year when we used the phone frequently). It isn't worth replacing our Nokia 5190 that cost us $49.00 (then received a $50.00 rebate!) with a phone costing hundreds of dollars and a service plan that costs far more than $25.00 each month!

The phone not really working at home is not a problem because there is no problem calling home from wherever.

That phone is GSM. It will be useless soon. Ask your carrier when it will be shut down. Just warning you...

It's a good response. Really the only one you have. We've had meetings that surround customer complaints everywhere I've worked. Remember you have a little 1/4 watt transmitter/receiver that you expect calls from anywhere in the world. When you understand what it takes to do that, you'd be amazed.
