Deer calibers

For me, its going to be the year of the 06, and .270.
Every year, I use different calibers, just to keep the rifles rotated in the safes.
Got the 06 and MZ sighted in Tuesday evening, and will work on getting the .270 out between now and gun season. The .270 is so danged purty, I hate to take it out for fear of getting a scratch on it.

Normally a 308 but I've been hunting with a 6.8 SPC for last couple of years and it's great!

Only gun I ever take into the woods after deer is a .30-06. Some might disagree, but for me, its the perfect balance of speed and force.

Carry a .38 special revolver for any mishaps....

The poll allows 20 choices, don't it? There's at least twice that many chamberings used - redo the thread & poll using all 20! :-) But it's a good start.

I rotate rifles. This year it will be the 450 marlin, my new to me 243, and my 300 weatherby for a mulie hunt in the panhandle. I would say my favorite is anything that says "Weatherby", thus the screen name. Luckily, I drew a bonus tag this year, so I'll get to use 3 rifles.
