What do you think the greatest car movie is and why?

Vanishing Point. I'm a big Mopar guy, the movie and car are both classic.

I'm pretty partial to deathproof, has a nova, charger, mustang and challenger in it and a good 10-20 min chase scene at the end. It also references the classic vanishing point with with its challenger.

It made for a good custom plate for my nova

I like the original Vanishing Point, but voted Two Lane Blacktop, Just because of the scene where James Taylor explains to Laurie Bird why the car has sliding windows.

Of the movies listed, I'd go with Bullitt, but it's not really a car movie, though going over 100mph through San Fran (and taking out a camera) does make for one hell of a chase scene. Smokey and the Bandit is arguably a better car movie, as are Gone in 60 Seconds (the H.B. Halicki original, shot with no F/X) and The Blues Brothers...

Pixar's Cars??? Death Proof. Duel with Dennis Weaver, definiately not too wordy. Death Race 2000 is absolutely bizzaro.
