Rip, I had the same problem. Went from the cop having the AR, then got confused when they said the cop was out-armed after last reading Conner had a handgun..

Great story. Millions of cases of folks every year saving lives by just owning a firearm and leting the bad guys know they have one.
Mainstream media should be all over this story.......yeah right!

I dont understand, the man who saved the cops life being forced to the ground and shackled?:anyone:

I'm no LEO but I'd guess with practically any active shooter scenario all party's involved are immediately disarmed and detained, probably forcefully because of all the adrenaline flowing and then it's sorted out when everyone has been made "safe". When an officer makes a "shots fired" call and people on the other end hear the stress in their voice it's game on 110% until everyone is safe.

They don't just show up throw their hands in the air and say "OK everyone calm down what's going on here?"

I'd expect to be put down and cuffed if I was the helper shooter too. In fact as soon as other officers arrived I'd drop the mag and eject the one in the chamber then place the gun someplace safe and lay face down. I know that everyone will be deemed a potential threat until they talk to "their guy".

This. You can't sort the players till you have a chance to read the program. As soon as they realized he was a good guy, he was released. SOP
