Before I retired, part of my job was yearly inspection of the schools in my district. There are three on the S.E. side of Okc where the only English I heard spoken was between me and my “escort”. Every classroom was filled to capacity with hispanic kids and none of the teachers were speaking English.

Mixed emotions? Yes. Did I want to do something about it? Yes. Did I do anything about it? No. I had too many years on the job and too close to retirement to put my job in jeopardy.

Does something need to be done? Yes. When I went through CLEET and the subject of illegals came up, the question was asked if we caught one, what were we supposed to do? Our answer was that if it wasn’t a felony, don’t bother calling immigration cause they didn’t have the manpower to do anything about it or the jail space to hold them.

I see some who have begun to respond with a modicum of sense. ICE knows perfectly well what is going on, just like the people in the town know, too. The costs have been weighed and the choice has been made that right now is not the time. It doesn't take much of a search to find other locations that have been busted with similar circumstances. Usually, you can note the main difference is the name on the gate at the plant. If it's an unknown name, they get busted first. They'll get around to the Tysons of the world...someday. There is no need to give them a tip. The IRS has probably already told them about the multiple fraudulent uses of Social Security numbers out there.

For the OP - not your job - do your job while keeping your shot record and those of your family up to date. Also, please learn to express yourself in English before trying Latin phrases -- it's per se, not per say. It means by, of, for, or in itself; intrinsically.

Unless your job is a Latin/English teacher in charge of correcting folks on forums, why do you give a **** then?

What frustrates me is our classrooms are already crowded. How many students do you have in a class?

Fraud happens all the time. My wife taught for years and she would tell me people would pull up in new Escalades to drop their kid off at school and that same kid would be on the free lunch program.

My neighbor is on disability and was trying to hide income from house parties she would have. Her husband’s name , who owned a construction company, was on the invitation to these parties where she would sell stuff. I asked my wife about it and that’s how I found out she was on disability, and that it was common knowledge in the community. What pissed me off the most was her husband drove a new 50k truck and would take his 65k ranger to the lake when the sun was shining. I called Inhofe’s office to find out how to turn her in for tax and disability fraud and was told I would need her social security number to do so. What a joke! Our SS system is setup to support fraud there is no other explanation.

I guess some people just don’t care about the law and will do everything the can to enrich themselves through every mean available.

Let's talk this out for argument's sake. Your job is to teach, care, support. Is it your job to gather factual data concerning the legal status of the children sitting in your classroom? Do you have any say over which students the school administrators place in your classroom? Are you, as a classroom teacher entitled to know private information about the kids in your classroom like legal status, social security number etc...??

See what I'm getting at. If you have actionable facts that's one thing, if you have gut feelings, suspicions etc...and are tormented about what action to take you could very well get by with just teaching the kids that are placed in your classroom, and do a damn fine job of it. Save the politics and windmill tilting for someone who gets paid to do that. Or take an administrator job LOL.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I have actual facts. I have actually asked the kids about their status. My school has what are called “sheltered classes”. These classes are for kids who are new to the country. I have two full classes of sheltered kids. Most speak no English what so ever. Many speak broken English. Few; if any, have reading levels above the 2nd grade. That’s the truth. I’ve seen their reading scores. That’s how I know.

I have two classes that I had to bring extra chairs into and the kids sit in the aisles because my classroom is so overcrowded. It’s rediculous.
