i had one did not shoot it very good off hand. shot good off a rest.traded it for a broom handle mauser.ak pistols cost less & are more powerful

Isn't that the short\pistol version of the M1 Carbine? If so I would suspect they were a whole lot more fun when surplus ammo was everywhere.

How do I get a CMP carbine?

I bought one at auction on Saturday for about $400 less than asking price on gunbroker or auction arms.

Also picked up a Smith model 34 snub nose.

If you got a USGI M1 Carbine for 400 less than what GB has them going for you probably did really good. Depending on manufacturer, markings, and such, you may have done really good!!
