Yup. I've always wanted to be on a jury, and even got the notice to be a juror a couple of times. But the minute they realize I'm a flatfoot, they tell me nope.

I've been a registered voter, property owner since the 70's. Never been called.
Wife got called for jury duty that ended up being a murder trial. She really learned a lot about the legal process.
Three kids went to a home two went in and killed a guy. She was on the trial of the guy that stayed with the vehicle, to be the getaway guy. Two going inside got life in the can, and her trial gave the guy 20 some years.

I got called in the fall of 1982, Payne County. We were given a number/ID on the first day. 6 week commitment, had to call an answering machine every Sunday evening and listen to the message. If your ID was listed you had to come in on Monday morning for selection process. My number got listed twice. Both times the attorneys let me go after a few questions. Never got to actually serve. Never been called again.

Who all has done it?

Sitting here watching a lady breastfeeding her baby in the jury pool room.

eta: her partner is here with her, so I don’t know if she’s serving, he’s serving, or both.
I had jury duty this past April, over what the prosecutor called Murder 1. Neither the shooter/survivor nor the "victim" was all that bright, but prosecutor absolutely failed to prove his case. Got a "Not Guilty" on both murder and manslaughter charges. Gunfight under a streetlight.

Don't want to do Jury Duty? This is a 50/50 shot, just stand up and say at the top of your lungs GUILTY GUILTY GUILT during the voir dire...

Seriously though, only asked t go once years ago. Actually think it is an honorable thing to do.

I got in lots of trouble in '78 when I was called (state court, in OKC) for a murder trial.

I honestly wasn't trying to just 'shirk' civic duty, and I offered to sit on a civil trial or perform community service as an alternative. But I clearly stated that I was neither wise enough nor smart enough to determine the fate of another human being. The judge scolded me, and reminded me that I would not be alone in the decision-making process. I despairingly mentioned that a camel was a horse that had been put together by a committee. That statement didn't sit very well, but I was still not excused. So when asked if I had any "preconceived notions" about the case, I responded with an ethnic slur about the defendant (and his obvious guilt). I was physically escorted out of the courthouse!

I was never called again, and I'm now well-past the state's legal age limit (70). Interestingly, I recently learned from the County Clerk's office that Oklahoma does not allow anyone - not even people who do have the time and interest - to volunteer for jury duty.
