As Patrick Henry said, "Give me liberty or give me death."

Well you edited your post to include this so I'll reply separately. Once again you're not answering my question at all. You would seriously rather die than live in Sweden?

Also please explain the historical context in which Patrick Henry said that, and then explain how it relates to government-provided healthcare.

It's very easy, there are at least 5 free clinics in the metro area. They might not be able to get you in right away, but for those with chronic medical conditions you'll be able to see a physician, get free meds and labs and referrals to specialists if needed.

ok you show me a free clinic in the area around where I live to visit! they're not every where! I went over 3 years fighting the system to get help! it really messed my pelvic bone up!

Well I'll take death over socialism. Our state already offers highly subsidized insurance to average citizens in need but many are not responsible enough to sign up for it. I offer this plan to any of my employees after working only six months and average 24 hrs a week. They can purchase insurance for less than 15% of what it cost me and they get better coverage at half the price. I'm a small business owner and offering insurance to my employees comes straight off my bottom line. It's staggering to me the number that refuse it and spend twice what their premiums would cost in cigarette purchases each month. They will eventually become a drain on the system by seeking coverage for COPD, etc. from smoking and will have no insurance to pay for it. There are certainly people in need who justifiably need help but IMO many of our large unsolvable social issues have more to do with a lack of individual responsibility than a lack of government handouts.

Well said!!!

We also need to stop subsidizing the rest of the worlds drugs, (there is a reason we pay more) stop paying for everyone including illegals, stop forcing insurance to cover stupid things like pet bereavement counseling and hair transplants, etc, etc, etc.

Or we could just go with the UK system where they give you a tambourine to call for nurses in an emergency.

Lots of folks here DREAM of a tambourine.

And lots of folks in Canada dream of the kind of medical care we get, so your point would be???

Seriously I love the Canadian system. They do a great job of keeping me in business because the Canadian people will buy stuff from us, pay to ship it and pay the import fees all because their system will not pay for stuff we take for granted. Canadians are my second best customers followed by people from the UK then Germany.

EDIT: I checked and there is a free clinic in his home town providing the following,

Dental Care Services, Mental Health/Substance Abuse Services, Primary Medical Care.

Getting into a clinic to see a doctor is one thing.
Getting surgery or chemo or dialysis is quite another thing, and you won't get that without insurance, medicaid, or CASH.

Agreed, as soon as the Dr. in the free clinic writes a script for meds or refers you to a specialist, without a job, insurance or state or federal aid of some sort you are baiscally SOL
