Nebraska Fall Turkey

Fall turkey season started today up here in Nebraska. I work nights, got home and was trying to get some sleep and my cat starts freaking out at the front bedroom window. I get up and what do I see??

About that time a car drives by and these brilliant critters run through the front gate and into the back yard.

I counted 13 of these things. They ran all over the back yard for a while. I was surprised to see them on opening day!

Buddy told me shoot them in the legs with the arrow.
If they can't run they can't get off the ground to fly.

Crappie hooks and some corn.
Those would be a hoot on 6lb test.
Just get em close then knock the head off with a machete

Bakers dozen came in. Standard dozen left.
I can take one more on this license so maybe a really fat tom will show up by end of season

Another pic...they're all in the back corner just to the right of my A-frame target hanger. 65 yards from living room window. A few just laid down and others were enjoying a feast of crickets and grasshoppers

That’s pretty handy that the turkeys come to you. Everyone else I know has to put a lot of effort into finding birds.
