There are lots of news stories of people surviving on pet food.

If one never goes inside, then one does not need to escape.
My wife prefers me to be outside, and with a mosquito net, I'm good with outdoors. I have a fold out kitchen , port for the TV, and wifi, so that covers my needs unless I'm in bear country.

Speaking of the fold out kitchen, if you are out in the wild, don't leave any food in there. I've heard stories of bears being able to tear those doors open to get inside.

Oh, and your wife could possibly cut off your TV by lowering the antenna, and she might be able to cut off your wifi as well.
