if we, as a society, are going to say 'if you're high risk, that is on you to deal with and adapt', then why are we crying foul when 'you must adapt or make a choice' is being said to the people who choose not to wear a mask?

increasing viral spread is going to cause all sorts of problems for our economy, right? It's already hitting the travel industry hard, let alone the medical field, schools, etc. If requiring a mask allows a casino to stay open, isn't that something that is good for our economy? If there are enough people who can't hear through a mask (or write, apparently) then wont a good business learn to adapt? Maybe provide clear masks or face shields to the waitstaff?

What the hell is wrong with people?

The okc mayor instructed people to call 911 if they see violations. Now the police are expected to babysit the whiners and snow flakes. But they don't have the resources to respond to automobile accidents when it's raining.

This is going to turn out very badly!

OKC Mayor Holt Doubles Down On COVID-19 Proclamation
Wednesday, July 8th 2020, 6:52 pm

By: Caleigh Bourgeois

OKLAHOMA CITY -
A series of tweets from Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt reiterated his latest COVID-19 restrictions.

The mayor also instructed people to call 911 if they see violations.

“Those restrictions are in place through at least next week. If you see violations of the new restrictions, you can call 9-1-1,” Holt said in a tweet Tuesday.

Holt’s latest proclamation, released July 3, requires all employees of restaurants, bars and “similar establishments,” to wear face coverings while on the premises.

The regulations also require bars to limit capacity to 50%.

Theatre style settings have to return to staggered seating.

Both the mayor’s office and the Oklahoma City Police department declined to interview about the 911 policy Wednesday.

However, the police department did provide data. Officers said at least nine calls have been made regarding possible violations. Six of those calls were about restaurants, but all were in compliance.

The mayor’s proclamation is set to expire July 17.

I read through this entire thread , and I just wonder if any the posters know anyone personally either a family member or a close friend that has been infected by this virus? I do. Two friends of mine 1 is 50 and 1 is 75. The 50 year old is recovering at her house as we speak but has been very sick. The 75 year-old just got out of the hospital 3 days ago. The masks that they are asking you to wear are not meant to prevent the virus it is meant to prevent the spread of the virus through expelled water vapor from you when you talk sneeze or cough. And any sort of mask will do that more effectively and not having a mask.
I have had the virus I believe, back in Nov-Dec and I know 5 others who believe they have had it also. One is my 83 yo mom who was being treated for cancer. None were hospitalized and I personally have had sinus infections that were worse.

of course, you might not have actually had it, right? Or have you had an anti-body test? I only ask because the first case in china wasn't reported until what, December 31st or something like that.

Our neighbor had it recently and is fine. My cousin had it in NYC and was pretty miserable (luckily not hospitalized). Alearly it's a YMMV type of thing.
